Okay, so I've had this running since Summer 2012, just recently managed to get a virtual install of windows (under linux) reading the USB, so have put it online..
Fine offset WH1080 clone - bought from clas ohlson UK
This morning however I notice it's nice and windy, but the temperature/windspeed was not being received. The temperature seems to have started working, maybe interference or something.. However..
On examining the wind speed sensor, I find it will not spin freely in the direction it should (spins freely other way). Any way to fix this? (batteries may be low since wasn't getting temp remotely but I doubt this would affect the sensor as in it not being able to turn? Anyone clarify?). If no fix, anyone know of where I can get a compatible sensor at decent price in UK, or is my best bet buy a full new kit?
Thanks all
Steve

It may be the bearings; they may need lubricating or replacing. Search on the forum for "bearings".
Maplins do spare anemometers for £2.49, when they have them in stock.

Re: WH1080 Wind speed sensor not working
Hi
I have just had the same prob. Fixed it by turning the bearing over + a little lub.
prob now is wind speed on console is lower than that shown in Cumulus which is about 2 times higher.

Thanks Steve.
On comparision to other local sites its o.k. just strange that prior to problem both console & Cumulus would show the same reading. I did have to reboot console however.

Re: WH1080 Wind speed sensor not working
hi guys.
just had a bearing issue.
I knew it was this as I could hear the grinding at ground level.
Whipped the spinner off the pole and pulled the top 'cones' off. Its a very tight fit.
Soaked the bearing in 3:1 machine oil and its now running fine but for how long?
Its a shame that this Chinese crap really has to be so poorly finished but thats the way now.
A good English bearing would have run for 25 years !

Re: WH1080 Wind speed sensor not working
My question is: If you had the wind speed sensor apart, why didn't you replace the "Chinese crap" with a "good English bearing", rather than putting a band-aid on it
