The Watson clones are well known for their poor build quality.
It seems the ferrite rod in the Sensor unit is hot glued in at any old angle, and may even become loose.
Here's the pictorial fix (It might solve a few other problems as well !)

I did see talk before about poor radio reception but I had a Watson for...oh...10 minutes or so and it picked up the DCF laid on a stainless steel sink in my kitchen which is at the far end of the house facing away from Germany!
Perversely although it picked up the DCF all the way from Frankfurt it wouldn't transmit the data to the console a few inches away!
I agree about the poor build & poorer quality control though...it's a shame as it is a very good price - re: cheap!
It's only good value for money for as long as it works though...
