BT closing free web hosting service!

Post by dionaea »

Hi All,
Having changed my ISP from Talk Talk to BT as I had heard good things about it - including free web hosting, I now find that they are shutting down this service "because not as many people are setting up & using their own web sites". I am really p....d off about this & have now got to set up new web hosting. I have looked at Wiki but would appreciate member's views on different web hosts that they have found to be good. I don't mind paying a modest amount for the service but don't want advertising pop ups.Free would of course be best. Can anyone using the Wiki one give me their site so that I can check it out?

Cheers,
Chris

Hello Chris
I use 987mb http://www.987mb.com/connect/hosting.html
its £19.99 per year including a domain name
I have had no real problems and the down time is minimal

I have been using UK2 for over 5 years now
http://www.uk2.net
They have many deals, Not shown on the site but ask about their
3 year up front deals if you ring them.

I chose http://www.lcn.com having had problems with my previous domain name hosting service I switched to them. Thus when I wanted web hosting I went with them also because I was incredibly pleased with their service.

They are not the cheapest but I would not say they are by any means expensive. They are UK based and you get through to them virtually straight away when you ring them and they have things up and running or problems rectified within seconds whilst you are on the phone

I will certainly be staying with them when I renew

I would heartily recommend Vidahost https://www.vidahost.com/web-hosting/overview.

Very good service, instant tech response and their Basic Package (£17, £29 if you go for a 2 year option) is more than enough space to run a Weather Web site.

I have used them for various sites including my own for at least 3 years and they have 99.9% SLA which is nearer 100% as I have not had an outage in that 3 years.
