fire up cumulus now and then?

Post by muppet77 »

I have a ws1080.

if I connected it with a usb cable to my pc and fired up cumulus now and then, perhaps weekly, would the software pick up historic data and also create files, graphs etc that I could then manually ftp to a host?

or does cumulus work better 24,7?

what limitations would I have if I booted cumulus now and then?

Your station has 4080 memory slots to store data so you need to make sure it does not use all of those and start over writing before Cumulus captures the data. If the station is set to store (log) data every 10 minutes that is 144 memory slots per day. Weekly is 1,008

(The data logging interval needs to be set using the EasyWeather software -- its the only thing you ever need EW for!)

Running 24/7 is much better if you can but Cumulus will cope.

sandaysoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5290&p=45630#p45630

I now have the 1080.

does cumulus generate any graph files or record stats tables that I could easily ftp to my host?

thanks again.

Yes, it will produce graphs, and (in 1.9.2) "NOAA-style" reports. You can see the graphs here:

http://sanday.org.uk/weather/trends.htm

and the reports:

and it will create the noaa style data tables on a retrospective type basis?

(so long as the data is in the console?)

Yes, it can create all of the data retrospectively from the logger.

The NOAA files are created in the 'reports' folder. You can either create them manually from the View menu, or get it to auto create and save them (see the NOAA setup screen). But you can only get reports from completed days.

The graphs files are created in the web/images folder as the result of a manual or automatic 'web update'. But note that a 'web update' doesn't actually need to update the web; if you don't supply any ftp details, the files get created anyway.

can't see how to manually create from 'view' either.

i have imported 3 months worth of data with massive help from Dane.

I have about a day's worth of downloaded data?

thanks

I would guess that you're not using 1.9.2 in that case.

1.9.1 doesn't have the NOAA reports, only 1.9.2, as I said earlier.
