Cumulus Rain problems

Post by M1DUL »

I am using a WH1081 Weather Station, the problems I am having is that Cumulus counts that it is raining even though it is not raining and the WH1081 Weather Station does not show that it has rained

At the moment the Display Units says 0.00 Inches
and the Cumulus Displays Rain Rate 0.02 Inches and h/r at 16:12

So Please can any one tell me what I need to do to stop this error this has happened mostly every day now.

Many Thanks for any Help / Information
Regards
Michael.

You're quoting a time, so I assume the display you're talking about is the rain rate in the 'recent extremes' for today? Are any of the other rain values showing anything? A screen shot would be good. Is your rain rate graph showing anything?

When did you start Cumulus up?

Hi Steve, Thank you for replying back to me. Yes I am talking about the right rain rate in the 'recent extremes' for today list,
In the Rainfull list they are all 0.00
Yes it shows show a peak on the Rain full rate in/hr Graph.

I started Cumulus at 10:12 this morning.

That's great, thanks. It's a bit odd that your graphs only go back to 15:50 today, particularly if you started Cumulus at 10:12. And you have a minimum pressure today of 0 mb. And no 'yesterday' values. Lots of very odd things. I wonder if it's the 'close just before midnight' bug? When did you close down yesterday? What version of Cumulus are you using?

Could you please attach your Jan09log.txt, today.ini and yesterday.ini files? If you have problems attaching them in the forum, email them to steve@sandaysoft.com

Thanks,
Steve

Sorry I forgot to say that I deleted all the old History I now it was a silly thing to do. But I wanted to see if it would still do the Rain problem that I am having.

I closed it down yesterday at about 23:00 the Version I am using is 1.8.5 Build I installed that this afternoon I still had this strange rain problem in version 1.8.4.

I will send you the files.

Well that at least probably explains the other odd values.

It's strange, every now and then you do get a rain rate figure from nowhere without the rain counter changing. I wonder if it's a rounding error because you are using inches... but I know a few others are using inches with a Fine Offset... is anyone else seeing this problem?

Thanks, Harry - and you're using inches too, so if it were a rounding error I'd expect you to see it too.

Michael, are you using a rain multiplier on the calibration screen?

OK, thanks. Have you had any more of the spurious rain rates? If so, please could I have your jan09log.txt file again, so I can see if there's a pattern.

I'm putting a bit more debugging for the rain rate into the next build which I'll be uploading shortly.

Thanks for replying back back to me again. I only had two so fare that one was at 18:00 last night I can only see that one on the Graph and not in the first page. you know about the other one at 16:12.

Do you still want me to send you the jan09log.txt file or wait until it does it again?

I saw the 1800 one, so please wait until it does it again. I should have the new build with the extra debugging ready soon.

OK Thanks Steve, I will wait until it does it again. I was using one of the longer USB leads with a USB connector at one end and a USB plug at the other end. I have now changed it over to the one what came with it see if I still get the same problem.

I will keep you posted I will look forward to the new build.
