Hi
Not a biggie, tried to update XP while Cumulus was running, but IE6 crashed. Stopped Cumulus and it update fine.

Legacy Cumulus 1 release 1.9.4 (build 1099) - 28 November 2014
(a patch is available for 1.9.4 build 1099 that extends the date range of drop-down menus to 2030)

Hopefully your MS update has updated your IE6 to IE8

Having the latest IE won't preclude you using Firefox but will ensure you are using an IE that is supported by MS.... but it's your call

can only reiterate what Neil has told you.
Not only should you be running the latest IE update but it should be the latest program too.
I have used IE for years but recent issues with it have moved me to Firefox and Chrome.
I am currently 'cleaning' a PC with over 900 security issues courtesy of IE.
Nice for me, i get paid but not for the user
