Wind chill

Post by keithatrochdale »

Hi

Could somebody explain the wind chill for me please?

On my PCs display it is always the same as the temp, even when we have an easterly wind; how can this be correct? Have just looked at Accuweather and it is giving 6 deg C below the current reading that I am shown.

Mine is presently showing Temp 7.4 C, Wind 12.1 mph, Wind Chill 6.0 C. As the wind speed increases, the Wind Chill number falls. With close to zero wind speed, my Wind Chill figure is the same as my temperature reading. I don't know whether humidity is involved in the Chill calculation or not.

Forgot to add we have wind at about 20 mph, so I thought wind chill would be lower.

Running 517, but it has been like this for a while.

I'm also using 517 and I'm definately seeing the Wind Chill vary continuously with wind speed. Are you sure you are not looking at the Heat Index figure, which is currently the same as temperature?
