I do not seem to have a record of any wind gusts overnight on restart. Any suggestions anyone?

I had to look at your graphs to see what you meant...

It looks like the gusts and wind speeds downloaded from the logger had the same value, for some reason. You can check this by looking in Oct08log.txt - you could maybe post a few lines from the affected period here? You could also attach the relevant file from the Diags folder - assuming you've only started up once today it will be the latest file in there. Then I could see if the actual raw data downloaded agreed with this.

The wind and gust speeds are the 6th and 7th items on each line, and they have the same values. So, the question is, did the station report the values the same, or did Cumulus somehow get it wrong? Has anyone else seen this problem?

The Diags file would help.

Hold on, I see what's happening. I bet you are using the 'calculate 10-minute average' option in Cumulus? And your logger is set to log every 30 minutes. Cumulus is calculating the 10-minute average wind speeds from data samples 30 minutes apart, so the two values are guaranteed to be the same.

Your logger (i.e. the console, not Cumulus) is logging at 30-minute intervals - see the data above.

You can either:

1. Leave everything as it is, or
2. Change the logger to log at 5-minute intervals, then at least there are two values to make an average of, or
3. Use the station average instead of getting Cumulus to calculate it.
