I tend to smear a coating of vaseline around the battery lid when I have changed the batteries. A bit messy but it cuts down on any moisture entering.

So - do I get a new transmitter or base unit? I have a hunch that it's the base unit but don't want to waste money if it's not

Do you know anyone local to you that has the same setup to swap a transmitter with for a trial?
