WH3081 Faulty Light/UV sensor Update

Post by philcdav »

Hi guys.

Wrote earlier in the year about the modification to the UV sensor and promised to report back.

The addition of a 3*1 cm plastic strip folded into a 1*1 cm sq placed over the UV sensor has reduced lock ups to nil over the past 4 months.

I used plastic from a CD 'floppy' cover.

The station has performed faultlessly. Only system updates and PC resets has stopped me attaining 100% performance.

Regular 'hi solar' reading s usually led to lock ups but not this summer even when we have had very high solar/UV states.

Hope this is useful

Will that not effect your readings?

Also why does the UV sensor cause the lock ups? and would that cause the lockups of a night?

various ideas have been suggested including overloading the processor with voltage due to extreme sunlight.

All i can offer is that the mod worked on my system.

Zero crashes all thru the summer.

I also note that the UV and light values are now always within the curve whereas before they often gave values well over the predicted.
