Hello, what should my rain multiplier be set at, currently it's 1.000

No-one can tell you what multiplier you need, if indeed you need one at all. By how much do you want to multiply the rain readings from your station? Have you done a calibration on your rain gauge and determined that it needs a multiplier? Have you looked at the help for the calibration settings screen?

My point was does cumulus automatically know how much mm each tip is worth

Yes, unless you have modified your rain gauge.

Hi,

To be precise, it can only know how much each tip is supposed to be.

It cannot know if the gauge is mounted in a "sensible" location, perfectly horizontal (and the manufacturer designed and constructed it well).

There are several threads on the forum suggesting how to locate and calibrate a rain gauge and/or improve its accuracy.
