WS-1090 Console Error

Post by crgauth »

I got an error (sorry I don't have the exact error) that said I needed to remove batteries and reset console.
Has happened before so I did it.
When I plugged back in, I started getting some strang errors
8/9/2016 8:13:18 PM : Ignoring dubious relative pressure reading, using offset of zero instead. Check your relative pressure setting on your console

Also Cumulus will then just read the same values regardless of what shows on the display.
I have tried a number of things.
Reloaded Cumulus software.
Tried to use EasyWeather software.
All having the same issue.
Can't imagine that just resetting would cause console to show strange values.

Any ideas or do I just have to buy a new console?

Look at the pressure reading on the console, then try another reset. If the pressure reading is still miles out you may get away with putting a big offset into Cumulus to correct it.

The same thing happened to my console after a reset. The pressure was so far out that you could not correct it on the console, but the correction in Cumulus worked fine.

The reset is probably causing the loss of the altitude offset in the relative pressure (msl) reading. You should be able to set the relative pressure on the console to match a nearby weather station like the NWS if you are in the US. Depending on your altitude it can be off by quite bit.

I used to have an Ambient station and I had to do this every time I had to do a power down reset when I lost communications.

Issue is that it was reading other values wrong as well and would end up stuck on the same values even though they were changing on display.
Now I get this error:
8/15/2016 7:38:27 PM : The station is not initialised
8/15/2016 7:38:27 PM : Byte 0 = 00 Byte 1 = AA
8/15/2016 7:38:27 PM : Try resetting the console

But I am able to connect just fine with easyweather software.

Cumulus will read the data if you force it to - but those values indicate a problem with the console, according to the Fine Offset documentation. See http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#When_I ... ialised.22
