Website Suggestion - Stats For Chosen Day

Post by glen.day »

Hey Steve,

Remember me, I'm back! I see your customer base has increased since my last posts.

I like the new http://sandaysoft.com/maps/ website you have created, very handy. Talking about this web site I have noticed that my old weather station exists within the weather station list. I have relocated from Conder ,ACT Australia to West Footscray, Victoria Australia so my Conder, ACT weather station (http://home.exetel.com.au/daygle/index.htm) can be removed from your web site. With my move I have once again put up my weather station see link http://home.exetel.com.au/glensweather/index.htm.

I would also like to make a suggestion about a modification to the cumulus website - I think it would be cool if you gave the option to select a past date which then brings up weather stats for the selected day.

I have updated this on the Wiki Cumulus Users page

Yes, this would be useful. But it would of course require all of your data to be on the web server, and would probably require the use of a 'proper' database. And some clever PHP programming. It would probably require some software running on the PC which periodically connected to the database on the server and spoke SQL to it to update it with the latest data.

I think that what I'm basically saying is that this is doable, but not by me ;)

In Cumulus 2, I'm using an SQL database to store the data, so there is probably scope there for some extra code (eventually) to update a remote database on a web server at the same time as the local one.

I have just about finished creating a customisation to do exactly this and should have it completed in the next few days and on the Wiki
