Rain data error

Post by bnwrx »

When Cumulus started today, it recorded this line in the October 6 log file:
06/10/14,03:43,33.1,10,-17.7,24.4,0.7,46,0.00,797.69,30.21,508.30,62.4,30,0.7,20.2,33.1,0,0,0.000,0.000,12.5,0,0.0,45,0.00,797.69

It also posted a "New Record" on the desktop for rainfall...797.69inches!!
For Today's rainfall on the desktop it displays 0.00, which is correct, we have had no rain today. I tried closing Cumulus, then using the previous day's backup file, but the error still appears. so how do I correct this?
Thanks for any help......

If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I'll take a look.

There is lots of information about correcting rainfall data in the FAQ and the wiki. Start here - http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#My_sta ... _figure.29

One of the logger entries had some apparently corrupt data - not just the rainfall counter. Most of the garbage data detection code (in particular the 'spike removal') operates on live data, so some of the values were accepted and recorded.

Should I wait till tomorrow, when the dayfile for today posts, then do the editing then?

For those values that will end up in dayfile.txt, you can either do that, or edit today.ini now to stop them going in.

If I edit the today.ini file, should Cumulus be stopped first?

So the rain amount in the ini file appears to be OK....Nothing out of the ordinary to edit...

Yes, because the next logger entry was OK, so the rain counter returned to normal. So for rainfall, you only need to correct any all-time and monthly (etc) records which were affected. The easiest way is copy the relevant .ini files from the backup taken on the first run this morning. The figures in today.ini which need correcting are the other ones which occurred at 03:43:

Speed=24.382604598999
SpTime=03:43

etc
