Cumulus Support

Anyone have any experience with the WS-2095?

My WS-1090 is finally giving up after 3 years. I already had to replace the temp/humidity sensor once, a console, and now my rain sensors gone. It's cheap, surprised it lasted this long with a few winters with temperatures into the -10F's.

I was planning on purchasing a Vantage Pro2 or Vantage Vue.. however I can't quite swing the $500+ for sensor and USB connections, and additional viewing console, I'd need for even the cheapest of the Davis stations at this point, therefore I'm kind of stuck with the Fine Offset brand. They seem to be cheap but they work for a decent amount of time.

Ambient Weather claims Cumulus compatibility. It also seems a lot like the WS-2080. Just wondering who has used them with Cumulus, or what general luck they've had with the WS-2095? Build quality any better than the WS-1090 I had? Do the consoles on these do that odd trick where you have to turn off and unplug the batteries from the console every once in a while that my 1090 did as well?

Well the Ambient Weather brand WS-2095 works flawlessly with Cumulus. Set the station up, shut Cumulus down, unplugged the WS-1090, plugged the WS-2095 in and it was like nothing every happened. Time will tell on its quality.

From installation I can see the build quality is a bit better. No cables or anything hanging around, which is bad for remote mount, good if all the sensors are near each other. The bubble level and such help to mount it correctly. What I don't like is the rain collector seems to be a bit more closed up.. which is nice to keep insects out, however some can still get in (Small spiders) and will gum up the rain gauge at some point. It doesn't look to friendly to open up.

Just an update, I've had 0 issues with my WS-2095! I actually had a bunch of odd issues with my old WS-1090 I had, random spikes, signal losses, having to reset the receiver/display every few months or so. Nothing bad so far with my WS-2095! I had one issue where some spider webs wrapped around the wind sensor, and kept it moving it for a few days, but that's more of a environment problem than a problem with the unit itself.

I haven't realized I've had the unit for almost a year already as well. I don't believe in that time I've changed the batteries as well. It takes 2xAA batteries, I put lithium in for cold temperature support (We got down to -13.5F, -25C this winter http://www.woodburyweather.com/wxnoaacl ... 2015&mo=02 ) and it's lasted this far.

I have it running with CumuluxMX beta on a RaspberryPi just fine as well. I haven't had to touch it in months, which is great. For the price, the 2095 is a great buy!

FYI, I didn't get a full 2 years out of the WS-2095. The transmitter failed after just over 1.5 years. I could see corrosion on the board, water found it's way into the unit. The transmit light was still functioning, but not of my receivers would get it. That being said, it worked flawlessly for that 1.5+ year without any issue. I ordered another cheap $90 WS-2095 to replace it and got it up and running. As much as I would love a Davis station, I cannot justify $600-700 when I can just pay $90 every other year.

It seems most of the new Fine Offset (Ambient branded in my case) are going Web style that transmit directly to WU and lack USB connectivity. There wasn't any newer/better models available so I purchased the same one.

I just purchased this model to replace my ProWeatherStation 1080. I like that on Amazon.com I can buy it with two consoles.

My 1080 has been working great since 2009 with only a couple of battery replacements. Lately it has been giving me some data spikes and other anomalies so I decided it's time for an upgrade. I too didn't want to shell out the big bucks for a Davis unit, so I stuck with a familiar brand.

Good luck! These small Fine Offsets are nice and cheap, and last long enough for the $100 they cost.

What Station Type setting do I use for the WS-2095? I assume the Fine Offset (1080) setting, but if someone could tell me what works for them I'd appreciate it.

That's the right setting for the WS-2095.

How can I change this display

The weather station in use is the ProWeatherStation 1080, and these pages are updated every 10 minutes. The meteorological day used at this station ends at midnight.

I would like it to say Ambient Weather WS-2095, but I tried just changing the index.htm and that did nothing.

Use the "station model" setting on the display settings screen. That's where you would have set it to "ProWeatherStation 1080", but it's probably so long ago now that you've forgotten how you did it!

FYI.. my 2nd WS-2095 is now having issues, again when getting close to the 2 year mark.

I have Temp ranges from -15F to 100F, rainy and dry seasons.. seems a bit too much for these cheap sensors.

What other Fine Offset stations still have USB ports for Cumulus to use?
I use the US branded AmbientWeather models which are FineOffset powered. Still not ready to toss money at a Davis station, especially given they're now almost a decade old.
