Web page maker & website help please?

Post by Zongo »

G'day

I have read the help & other posts but I don't seem to be able to find anything specific to my (being a dum dum problem) So I am hopeing someone maybe able to help please. I purchased a WS 1082 which works good with CUMULUS. And I really like the CUMULUS program heaps.

My problem is I am using a program called Web Pager maker. I would like to put my station online so I can see it on the net. However, I am not conversant with HTML much at all. I am unsure where to tell Web page maker to point to to get the right files to display?

My web page only shows the directory of folders and nothing else.

My web page is here >>> www.users.on.net/danjoe33/weather

Any advice would be appreciated :)

Thankyou Steve for the terrific program.

It looks like you've done the required setting up of your web space correctly; now you need to tell Cumulus to periodically upload the pages, by giving it your ftp details. Or have you done that already and it's not working?

G'day Steve

I have entered my FTP details and apssword etc. I did note that when I had that set up, the CUMULUS graphic interface ERROR light was flashing. I altered a few things about from reading the instructions but to no avail. I didn't reboot the computer though?

Sort of running blind here as I was thinking that I would have to tell the web page makers "Weather" box which points to something where to actually point? I have told it to point to www.users.on.net/danjoe33/weather

I have told it that this is another web site from its drop down menu. (there were only about four options to select from to tell it where to point.

Hope this explains what I am doing or not doing?

Dan, I don't really know where this 'web page maker' fits into things - I suspect it doesn't, as far as Cumulus is concerned. I've looked up the guide on the Internode site and it looks to me like you need to supply the following details on the Cumulus internet settings screen:

Host name: ftp.users.on.net
Directory: weather
Username: (I guess you know this - danjoe33 possibly?)
Password: (ditto)

In the web settings, tick 'auto update' and choose a sensible upload interval. Then wait for Cumulus to start uploading.

Any use?

Hi Steve

Thanks for the reply and advice.
I set CUMULUS up as you said, waited 15 mins for the upload to happen but still no joy. It seems when the upload occured the red ERROR lamp on CUMULUS began flashing and all that shows in the link is the folders & files.

With regard to Web page maker, When I set it up I have to tell each button what its supposed to point to. Example; on my home page, the button that says "Zongo Weather Station", From a drop down menu I selected "This button points to a another web site called "www.users.on.net/danjoe33/weather". I know its not actually another web site, it should be just a folder of my root directory. That is what I am a bit confused about.

I am just totally confused as to why the link only shows the folders & files of directory when selected?

I will continue to try to make it work & thankyou for your effort in trying to help me.

Cheers

Hi

Still not having any joy here. I suspect that it is me that is the problem?

I have changed FTP to active and no go. It would seem to me that as soon as the files try to upload the red error lamp starts flashing. The FTP log file shows the following >>>

16:08:37:656 ! HighLevelAsync 0
16:08:38:656 ! HighLevelAsync 0
16:08:39:562 ! HighLevelAsync 0

But I do not know what this means?

I also tried reloading my files and started from scratch but still can't get the web pages to show?

Any help or suggestions appreciated :)

Thanks

Just discovered I am getting an FTP timeout when attempting to do a manual web update. Looking into that now.

Fingers crossed.

The latest beta logs the error code when an ftp timeout occurs, so you could try that. It's quite likely to be a DNS problem, as someone else had recently, due to entering the server name incorrectly.

You're not putting "http:" or anything like that on the front of the host name, are you?

Thanks Steve

My settings are.>>>

port 21

weather

danjoe33

"my password"

I am wondering if it is my firewall?

Those settings look good to me. It could be your firewall, but then I'd have expected you to have had problems uploading the files in the first place.

Could you try the latest beta: http://www.nybbles.co.uk/downloads/beta ... sSetup.exe

When the connect times out and the red LED flashes, click on it, and the window should show the error code.

Ok Steve

Yes, I would agree with the firewall asssumption. I use Core ftp lite to upload my files. I do note Core FTP has a check box that is checked which says "open SSL" retries 3 & timeout 60.

Never had any problems with Core FTP.

Will try the BETA version. fingers crossed again. :)

G'day Carl & thanks for the welcome.

G'day Carl. Web page maker, as you correctly said had nothing to do with my problem. Being inexperienced, I initially thought that it did.

Anyhow, its working great now :D

Cheers
