Not Recording and Error Light

Post by MD3WSP »

OK, woke up this morning and checked the system.

There was a Red flashing Error indicator and the record was not flashing, clicked on the red light as per help file instructions and the log was empty.

Restarted the software, and I cannot get it to flash the record indicator.

I am running 1.8.1

Any Ideas?

The red light just indicates that an ftp failed, normally this is recovered and is nothing to worry about. I don't know why there was nothing when you clicked on it.

The 'record' light indicates that an all-time record has been broken, so you'd expect this to flash a lot when you first run Cumulus, but then not so much as time goes by. It's not an indication that Cumulus is recording data.

When you say 'not logged', do you mean:

1. It's not displaying data on the screen
2. It's not adding entries to the Oct08log.txt file
3. It's not updating your web site
4. Something else?

Your website is still there but the graphs have been "flatlining" since 9:00am so it's not receiving data or any data being received hasn't changed.

Have you tried manually updating to see if the ftp facility is actually still able to connect and transfer the data? (file/web update)

Have you set cumulus to auto update at (say) 5' intervals?

Hope this gives you a few ideas, I'm still feeling my way so it may be a case of the blind leading the blind!

Cheers.... Tony (G4HZW)

I just thought to look at the web site too :)

The ftp upload is working but it's not reading data from the unit (so (1) above). Also, something funny happened at about 1845 last night, as you've lost your relative pressure calibration. But that can wait.

Could you please send me the files from the Diags folder - either by PM or email to steve@sandaysoft.com

Thanks for looking through my logs, it did seem that the complte disconnect of the Watson unit, and the shut down of the software, then reconnect of the unit followed by restarting the unit worked.

I had previously just disconnected and reconnected the Watson head unit thinking that was enough, but now know better.

Thanks again for the great help.

I tried to make it so that Cumulus shouldn't need to be restarted after an unplug/replug, but I clearly failed :(
