outside temp and wind correlation

Post by RaDiOalarm »

Yesterday I took off my WS1080 wind sensor home to fix direction problems (replaced 3 reed switches, they were clicking, but not making contact). Anyway, I put it back today, and rushed to check my graphs. Wind was fine, but I noticed, that temperature graph was a lot more 'spiky' with wind sensor connected:

I also realized, that I rarely see 'flat' temp graphs. What happened? Wind sensor has influence on temp sensor schematics?

Hi,

Yes, the transmitter unit uses the same A/D converter for the Wind Direction and External Temperature.

Furthermore, the wind cable is "continuously" connected to the A/D input, so interference (or crosstalk) from the anemometer can easily occur (particularly with extended cables or if there is any moisture across the contacts). The microcontroller selects which A/D conversion is performed, by applying a voltage to the "other side" of the vane resistors (or internal thermistor).

Cheers, Alan.
