It looks like a low cost version of the Davis Vantage Vue.

I don't understand german so I don't know about the technical data but it looks quite decent IMO.

It would be good to have a datasheet in english but I can't find it in Google, maybe outside Germany is marketed under another name.

Somewhat similar to the AcuRite http://www.acurite.com/weather/weather-stations.html sold in North America.

But neither is not a Davis ;)

Also sold in The Netherlands the station puts the data on a sd memory card there is no way to read the data realtime to your pc I think its not usefull for weathersites http://shop.buienradar.nl/product/13545 ... on-br2000/

Thank you all.

I'm not worried about it not having PC connection as long as you can download the data to the PC.

I emailed the company selling it and they say the internal has space for storing the weather data of 35 years!! (considering it records every 30 minutes)

Mcrossley, I thought it had a pressure sensor, at least it shows: Barometric absolutely inHg.

I had almost decided to buy this one from the same vendor as it's the new version of Fine Offset at good price: http://www.ebay.de/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 508wt_1150

But I thought maybe this "Poor man's Davis Vue" could have better quality sensors or more accuracy and be worth extra €100 over the Fine Offset, but as it seems it's not a popular model I guess it's hard to find out.

Yes it does a seem to from the display and specs, I need to look more closely - I had based that on one of the reviews on the Dutch web site where someone said they had returned theirs because..."there is no air pressure gauge/barometer and no direct PC connection," (Google translated!)

Hello,
For the time you bought this stqtion, does it works fine with Cumulus?
There are two similar weather stations: PH1000 and PH1003... looks quite the same.

Cheers, Engo

No PC connection is exactly because it can send data to the Internet itself! It's the brand new Fine Offset...

Here's a bit more info about and a link to the user manual.

I haven't RTFM, but it seems little odd to have WiFi just to talk to WUnderground ?

My work has recently started selling this model of weather station without the Wi-Fi connectivity (model HP1003). When I originally saw the product it was sent to our purchasing department with a Micro USB outlet, but the stock that hit the shelves never came with this.

I was lucky enough to open one up to see inside. The board has potential to have both USB and Serial I/O outputs from the unit, but these components are missing from the circuit board supplied to us.

Makes me wonder if (somewhere out there) there is a USB version of this station that could possibly work with Cumulus; which could be a great alternative to other Fine Offset units with UV sensors.

I also noticed this particular weather station on the ambient weather website. It does look good even though it only seems to come with a Wi-Fi/Wunderground interface. The main things that put me off buying it was the mounting possibly isn't very strong.

I purchased this station from an eBay shop in Germany (and since then Maplin started to sell it http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-profes ... tion-n23dq).

It has been up and running as IWORTHING10 on Weather Underground since 5th December and seems to be working fine for now. Since it is located on the coast, it will be interesting to see how long it survives in the sea air.

The Maplin link is interesting as in the questions they are asked how it links to a PC and they say via USB. Is this correct as all the previous posts say there is no USB connector.

Edit : Here is a link to User manual I found and it shows a Mini USB slot and a Micro SD card slot.

Also the WU setup screen in that manual implies that you can edit some of the config...
Capture.PNG
If you can change the server name it would be pretty easy to set-up a PHP script to capture the data locally... Also wonder what 'customizing' the upload type means?

No mention of being able to do anything with that USB port though :(

Apparently if your unit comes with a MicroUSB socket, it is only for firmware update of the unit and nothing more.
