N96FY wireless usb question

Post by MrSkins »

Hi all I'm new here and have just set up my site, what I'd really like to do is set up a wireless connection between my console and pc. Is there anything out there to do the job, I have seen something like this http://www.everythingusb.com/cables-unl ... 15823.html but really wondered if it would work?

I would like to keep my web site upto date and this would really help

Many thanks :)

Hi ?

This has been suggested before and found not to be viable.

I cant remember the details but search the system and you will find many references

That device may well work - it may also introduce another point of unreliablity :( - but am I missing something? I am struggling to see the value. Its effective range seems to be limited to about 15 feet (6x slower than a cable at 10 feet!) - err about the length a decent cable can achieve, and well short of what you can achieve with active cable extenders. So for a fixed installation...?

I think what Phil was referring to was a Bluetooth device someone posted a while back - that was designed for PC to PC communication, not PC to peripheral.

Hi,
Just to let you know, I have purchased this item http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage. ... _Id=505301 and I have to say, it works perfectly!
I have the touchscreen reciever in my living room on view and connected via the usb to the home base.
The homebase software is installed on a computer I have set up as a weather server which recieves the data from the home base and sends it to my website http://greenyspace.com/Weather/index.htm which I set to update every 10 mins.

Good to know, really.
However, rather expensive (about 60 pounds?). And for me not useful. The last time I watched the console was more than two months ago. I consider the console as a black box. I only watch the published webpages (with PC, laptop, smartphone).
