Remote control of your Cumulus PC

Post by daj »

I was thinking about all the weather peeps on here today and realised that you may be interested in something I blogged about earlier in the week elsewhere. Even better I am giving away a free copy of the software.

It's basically LogMeIn which is remote desktop software (I actually run it on my weather stations). I can then connect to it from any PC (e.g. at work, friends house, etc); really handy if there is a problem. Anyway, no big news there, but I did review the addon to it -- LogMeIn Ignition which allows you to use your iPhone/iPad/Android/Windows phone/tablet to connect to it. Very handy in case of a problem and you are out and about.

So, shameless plug for the article at http://theonlycog.com/2011/08/22/logignition/

LogMeIn has a free PC version (which I use) and Ignition is chargeable (but I have one copy for iOS to give away)

I like Windows Live Mesh for remote desktop login/control. It also does my data file backup to another machine.

Did you not read it?! ;)

Ignition is the app for your phone/tablet device

I've been using LogMeIn Free for years and it's great. I only just tried the Ignition app

Are any of the above an alternative to GotoMyPC?....sometimes I need to access my PC from work, but at £15 a month, I feel it's not worth the money for how little I use it

:)

In the course of my business, I've used them all. PCanywhere (worked well over modems in the the 90's :) ), VNC, RDP, Teamviewer and Logmein. I reckon Teamviewer is the best these days.

I hate the constant reminder TeamViewer gave me about buying the product. I know they offer a commercial version, and also a free one, but do I need to be told every time I use it!
