beteljuice paper chase
Are you bored, feel you have nothing to aim for ?
Fear not ! - in these times of pub closures and mortalities, the beteljuice has created a 'paper-chase' around his pretend newMX site.
There are of course clues to follow, riddles, user interaction required, jig-saw puzzles, map usage, and then there's IRIS (She's a bit scary large screen)
... and I've only slightly broken the site with all the additional conflicting js and php stuff (I hope)
There are lots of 'Red Herrings' and false prophets, and sometimes you may have a valid clue and answer but are not in the right place !
It is possible to accidentally discover a clue and jump the queue so to speak, but that's part of the fun.
Those who complete the challenges are invited to list themselves and make comment.
START HERE link in the right-hand column.

Re: beteljuice paper chase
After 30 minutes, 4 Red Herrings and several clues, well answered question but nothing happens.
So I give up. It reminds me of Leisure Suit Larry 1 for which I never had the patience to finish it, let alone version 2 - 8.
Anyway, good luck to everybody else. This will definitely slow down CMX development.
I assume next year the correct solution will be published?

Re: beteljuice paper chase
Hmmm ....
Provided you don't jump to conclusions, and read the clues carefully, there really shouldn't be any problems.
Once you do get it wrong, you have to work out how far back to retrace your steps.
For example the first clue ..
"Follow This 11111 2222" - You go to the (only) page that is This ?????? and click on the obvious 2222, which then gives you the correct next clue.
There are some other pages where the 2222 is interactive, and so starts your wild goose chase
@hans = BTW you are one of the possible answers

Re: beteljuice paper chase
Did you get a form to fill in with a submit button that says "Yes - I want to tell the world I did it my way" ?
I just checked it and it seems alright ?

Re: beteljuice paper chase
I'll have to try again then, that I must see
Btw: is it understandable for non-british or is it all inside jokes and riddles? And what should happen when a puzzle is finished?

Re: beteljuice paper chase
I've tried to keep it 'International' and for the most part joke free.
... although there are of course inferred directions, but a basic understanding of English should be OK.
Any individual challenge will result in a pop-up with the next clue, or a link to another challenge.
When you have completed the final challenge you are sent to a 'form' page to fill in your details and make comment.
No prizes I'm afraid, I would have bought you a beer, but what with Brexit, COVID, and me being a mean S.O.B.

@mark
Yup, I can see your 'winners' entry.
Thank you .... but you are too quick, I knew I should not have dumbed down the clues

Re: beteljuice paper chase
(For that clue) The alleged location is a ........ , find the 'control centre'.Remove control centre with extreme predudice !
"extreme prejudice" (corrected spelling ) Used to be an American security services euphemism for what the Daleks said all the time.
The page you should be in has the ability to carry out this task
... but then again, is it a "Red Herring" ?

Re: beteljuice paper chase
Only one person completed the hunt so far.
Does this mean it is extremely boring, or that you are all lost somewhere and got fed up >
First stage spoiler ...
Hitting the start link takes you to a jigsaw puzzle. (random picture, random number of pieces)
Complete the puzzle and you get a pop-up.
et voila, a pop-up.
.... to be continued (eventually)
