Bresser stations

Post by nickjwhite »

Can anyone please tell me if the Bresser stations are compatible with Cumulus; iether MX or even the older version (as I have never successfully installed MX)

Many thanks

sorry, I should have said why I ask. I have been running my weather station and website for over 10 years now on a Fine Offset station. I have replaced parts and even the whole shebang a couple of times but otherwise haven't honestly had much in the way of issues. However, it is getting harder to get spares now so I know I will have to replace it completely at some point. Bresser seemed to come up as a mid price replacement, much as I'd prefer a Vantage Vue, but I'm reluctant to pay out £379 PLUS £165 to be able to upload to Cumulus and my web page, so I am just thinking ahead right now

Many thanks all

It is not in the supported devices in the Wiki so the answer must be no they are not supported.

Most people who have reached your point and don't want to go the Davis route are looking at Ecowitt stations which are supported in Cumulus MX via the Ecowitt GW1000 module. There is a Forum on them here viewforum.php?f=42

Agreed. But a (perceived) problem with Ecowitt is the need to order from China, though the company is very helpful.
The same physical hardware kit is available with different branding "Sainlogic" on amazon, which is faster and more reliable, though the range is more limited and need to be careful to get items which will talk to the GW1003 (also known as DP1500) and thus to CumulusMX (as a quick guide, the ones which have the WiFi symbol and advertise as 'directly uploads to Wunderground.com should be suitable - maybe I should not say this here, but if you are not wanting the versatility and extra functions that CumulusMX brings, you can use the direct uploading without needing a local computer, GW1003 or CumulusMX).

Example links:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/sainlogic-FT03 ... B0836FVVYZ
https://www.amazon.co.uk/sainlogic-WS35 ... 081F1VTYT/

More variety on amazon.de (site can be changed to English and will deliver to UK), and I also see "Ragova" branding:
https://www.amazon.de/Wunderground-Prof ... B08DR6LKK6
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Sainlogic-Pr ... 07TVMQ2CK/

Same hardware is also available with Froggit branding on amazon.de. or directly from https://www.froggit.de/?language=en :
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/stores/frogg ... ageIndex=1

The GW1003 link needed for Cumulus MX is also available from similar sources. It is the same device as Froggit DP1500:
https://www.amazon.de/Froggit-DP1500-We ... ast_sto_dp
https://www.froggit.de/product_info.php ... ongle.html

I leaved it to you to work out the best source for the parts you want, taking account of different prices and additional postage cost if you don't buy all from the same source. Froggit.de have a sale on at the moment, and ordering from Germany to the UK is easy at the moment, but will become painful and more expensive after 31 Dec unless a Brexit deal is struck.

Very interesting, especially the Froggit sale. Any idea why the Amazon link is saying "This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location. Please choose a different delivery location." for a UK address?

That'll be the Froggit stuff on Amazon that you're looking at?

Stuff sold by Amazon, or sold by another retailer and fulfilled (posted) by Amazon from an Amazon depot, can be sent to the UK. A minority of retailers just use Amazon as a 'shopfront' and handle dispatch themselves - they set their own policy on where they will post to. Froggit on Amazon are in this group and will not send to UK - whereas from their own website, they will. It's totally up to the retailer I'm afraid.
