Installing Cumulus on a new computer

I will be changing my laptop soon. I have a spare laptop,
which I do not usually run Cumulus on, so I thought I would go through a
dummy run to see how to install the data on the new laptop when I buy it.

I backup my data every month on to a removable hard drive by selecting the
Cumulus file from the C drive and copying it.

I dragged the latest backed up file on to the spare laptop desktop from the
removable drive and found a download for the 1.9.4 version software. I
emulated the weather station configuration from my working laptop to the
new laptop (Fine offset etc).

However, when I connect the receiver via USB I get an error on Cumulus and the historic data is not displayed.

What have I forgotten to do?

Many thanks

Did you copy the Cumulus.ini file over too, or just replicate the settings? If the latter then the start date will reset to whenever you first ran the second instance.

Just make sure your locale settings are the same (decimal point, list separator, date formats) and copy over the whole Cumulus folder - with Cumulus stopped on the source machine - and it should go.

Many thanks Mccrossley - I was missing the .ini file.

Much appreciated.
