Oh god. I thought this was sorted. Steve, maybe with the help of others this can be solved. I wouldn’t know where to go to as an alternative.

Hopefully the hosting company will be sympathetic to your plight. Your server can’t be the only one affected.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

Whilst my banner.php continues to be updated my website hasn't since 15:15 this afternoon. The log shows multiple entries of the following:-

15/10/2018 22:45:40 : FTP Connect Timeout
15/10/2018 23:00:03 : FTP Connect Error, Error code = 500
15/10/2018 23:00:33 : FTP Connect Timeout
15/10/2018 23:15:09 : FTP Connect Error, Error code = 500
15/10/2018 23:15:09 : FTP Connect Error, Error code = 500
15/10/2018 23:15:39 : FTP Connect Timeout

I don't understand. Why is the banner being updated but not my website. I've changed nothing knowingly.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

Log attached. After a reboot the upload still won't work. Seems to be something at the server end possibly unconnected to the malware problem.

Permanently or just a glitch?

Note that I only have 20 minutes of power left on my laptop and I won't have mains until later this week.

I've only just become aware of this problem (I don't host with you) and would like to help. I'm a Linux sysadmin.

Freddie, that’s kind of you. It seems Steve’s battery is now exhausted and he won’t be online until later in the week. I’m hoping that with the expertise available to him the problem can be resolved.

No problem. I have been using Cumulus software for 8 years, and it is nice to be able to give something practical back.
I'll check back later in the week.

I posted earlier but hadn't seen about later in the week so I will wait till then. I have two people now whose Cumulus has stopped uploading since 15.15 and 15.20 on October 15th.
I need to know fairly soon what the longer term prospects are so as I can advise them what to do re: their websites.

I’ve left Cumulus running attempting to upload data every 15 minutes even though the server cannot currently accept it. I’m assuming that once ftp uploads are available again my records on my website will be correct. Maybe someone could confirm that please.

I’ve left it running as it also uploads to WU and I don’t want my sequence disrupted.

Dave, I’m in a similar position to your customers. I know Steve has had a lot of hassle with this malware but with several experts offering to help it should be possible to identify and eradicate it. If that is successful then maybe Steve will consider continuing his hosting services.

As I know nothing about setting it up with a separate company I would prefer to stay with him. I don’t even know how much bandwidth is used each month which I assume is necessary before you can sign up elsewhere.

This has been the first time the service has been disrupted in almost 10 years. Let’s hope it’s the last. The good news is that at least the hosting company hasn’t taken the service down so once Steve has sorted the ftp problem we should be up and running quickly. Just need that malware killing off.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

Ray, it's not really much different setting up with a different provider than it was with Steve. It's just Steve had a nice fair and straightforward pricing policy. A lot of them are £x a month then it goes up the next year. As for the website - yes it will just pick up with the current data available from Cumulus.
