LaMetric LED Cumulus Display

Post by Smithee »

Thought some people might be interested in the LaMetric - its a neat little device that displays data/acts as a bluetooth speaker and Internet Radio.

The best bit is you can pull data from realtime.txt and get it auto displaying, i have included a couple of images.

Its available on Amazon, the battery option is the best one to get as it allows it to run as a both a powered and stand alone device...

Anyhow, thought people might be interested, it updates every 5 seconds...

It is a little on the pricy side - although if you were in the market for a bluetooth speaker/internet radio, then this doubles up.

Just noted the other question ref realtime.txt - we have ours cycling through temperature, pressure, temperature rate per hour, wind etc via a short php script pointing to realtime.txt. You can publish private apps, making it easy to tweak and change things. It also pings when ever there is rainfall, or an earthquake....

Cost i know is an issue though - the mains only powered one is notably cheaper.

I was going to buy one of these and then they suddenly vanished! It turns out the demand was so high, they didn't make enough. They're now back in Amazon, for pre-order, and I think they're cheaper than before? It becomes available on the 20th July, naturally I have put my order in! I see you can show Netatmo data too: http://apps.lametric.com/apps/netatmo/925

I'll be sure to add that, and any other weather info, including my Cumulus data. I absolutely love gadgets like this..

How do make it talk to your PHP code, do you point it at a URL?

Yep - you just point it at a URL for each metric you want to pull in - this is my live wind php

Not quite the same thing, but I bought one of these a while ago:

My intention was that I'd write a plugin to display information from Cumulus. Haven't had chance to look into it yet, and to be honest I'm not sure it's actually possible, but it's quite a neat device just displaying computer status info.

After the release date was put back three times, and then selling out, Amazon finally got around to fulfilling my order - should be here tomorrow!

Smithee - Would I be able to pick your brains about getting my Cumulus data shown on it, sometime in the coming days?
