Is there a bug with the "View New Posts" ?

Post by daj »

Is there a bug with the "View New Posts" option on the main page? I had been using it to quickly see what had changed but I realised I had missed a few postings. I've been trying it over a week or so and I can't make sense of it.

Example, today when I click View New Posts I get this

However if I manually drill into the Cumulus Forum I can see that there is an unread post in the "La Crosse" Forum which does not appear in the "new posts" screen above

Is anyone else having this problem?

I suspect 'New Posts' and 'Unread Posts' are different :?

Yes, I think so. 'New posts' quickly become 'old posts' and stop showing up, which is a pain for me as I occasionally miss questions. I would much rather have an 'unread posts' facility; I'll see if there's something I can turn on, or maybe a plugin I can get.

So somewhere is a 'timetodie' type variable ;)

I think it's just that they're new the first time you log in after they're posted, then they become old.

Anyway, I've just hacked a few files to install a mod that allows a 'view unread' facility, and I'm about to flush the cache so the new files will start getting used. So the board will probably stop working...

Actually, that doesn't seem to be the case.

But the new 'view unread posts' seems to be working...
