Just to repeat what has been spread about elsewhere:
  • The raingauge should be level on all planes.

It should not be 'shadowed' by any nearby structure / trees.

It should be 200mm + above local level to minimise rain / mud splatter.

The secure surface you have upon should allow for drainage !

Put it somewhere you can maintain it at least twice a year !
Maintainance:
It WILL collect spiders, leaves and algae !
Disconnect from thermohygro or whatever.
Dismantle, give everything a wipe down.
Spray your 'spoons' and chute with WD40 / Rocket etc. - works wonders ;)

Hi all!

I have a Watson W-8681 (a WH1081 rebadged) which I upgraded to from a Watson W-8683. On the 8681, the pressure history bar chart remains constant showing 4 bars for all 8 periods over the 24 hr or 12hr range. On the 8683, the bar chart fluctuates over the 24hr range - ie shows different heights of bar chart for each of the 8 periods, and continually changes to show the pressure variation over 24hrs. The 8681 doesn't. Is it faulty? Or can a setting be changed to make the pressure history more "sensitive" the variations in pressure? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Jase

I don't think you can adjust anything other than the period. By how much has your pressure actually varied over the last 12/24 hours?

Steve,

This is a moot point, as the pressure hasn't varied a great deal - yet the W-8683 has shown the variation on it's pressure history bar chart, but the W-8681 hasn't. But both are showing the same or nearly the same pressures all the time throughout the 24hr period (+or-0.2 at the very most). So I would assume that the pressure histories would also coincide. Yet the W-8681 remains flat, 4 bars high.... for the last 24hrs... and probably the next 24hrs... any ideas?

Jase.

PS Great forum and site as a whole.
