Perseids Meteor Shower 2013

Post by Intheswamp »

This weekend the Perseid Meteor shower will begin it's peaking. I went out a little while ago (it's 1am local time right now) and saw several meteors. I've also got my little digital camera taking some long exposure shots. We've had some rainy, stormy, cloudy, foggy weather for a while now and I've been worried about this weekend being overcast. I was going to start getting ready for bed a little over an hour ago and looked at my Cumulus website and it said "CLEAR"...which surprised me...I went out and sure enough, it was more clear than it has been in weeks!!! :)

Anyhow, get out a good into the heavens this weekend and Monday and Tuesday nights! ;)

We were out in the garden at about 5pm yesterday (Monday 12th) and heard something ripping through the air - far to fast for a bird - it sounded a bit like a firework rocket - could it have been a meteor ??? It wasn't till I saw this thread that it made me wonder though it crossed my mind at the time it could be space debris.

Regards
Alan
