Buy a Celsius Thermometer From the UK or Elsewhere

Post by Buford T. Justice »

I want to find an online store in the UK or elsewhere that sells large dial thermometers so I can get one that uses Celsius and has no Fahrenheit on it. Something easy to read, colorful, maybe with the colored temperature band on it. I need one with a diameter of at least 310 mm. It also needs to be shipped to me in the USA.

In all my searching online for what is available in the USA, all I can find is this one and I really am not liking it other than 0 °C is straight at the top:

I'm not sure where exactly in the USA you are, but you may have forgotten that the USA shares a border east to west with Canada which has been metric for many years. If you are close enough, you can drive over the border to any Walmart - or basically look at your favorite online store and change the .com to .ca, as in "amazon.ca" for example. Shipping to the USA is generally a non-issue. Or try eBay (.ca or .com)

If you are in the southwest, you likely can pop over to Mexico if you don't want to do an online thing.

But I think it will be difficult here also to find one without fahrenheit on it,

I should have specified a little more. Yes I did look at eBay UK, Australia, Canada, and a few other regions and, when I found one I liked, the seller would not ship to the USA. I'll give the different regions a shot on Amazon, but what I was wondering was if there may be some smaller shops that sold them and would ship to the USA.

It should be pretty simple to overlay the existing dial with one you make yourself.
That way you could have the colour bands and font etc you want on the one you show in your opening post.

On most of the regular outdoor dial thermometers, it is impossible to remove the lens cover without breaking it.

I found this one on Walmart Canada, but they appear to not ship to Walmart USA:

If that one meets your needs, I'll be happy to pick one up and mail it to you. You can pay me through PayPal.
Warning: mailing costs are likely to be over $25, and I'll have to pay tax (13%) on both the item and the shipping.
If I had an address, Canada Post has an online tool to calculate costs. Send me a PM if you are interested and we can work the details.

@Charlie
I might just take you up on your offer. I liked the ones you linked to, but they are too small for the distance I have to work with to be viewable indoors. I need one at least 31 cm or 310 mm. I looked through that links other models, but they didn't have any big enough for my needs.

Neat, but that is for freezers so the color combinations don't quite make sense for outdoor temperatures. Thanks though.
