WIND RUN

Post by Terry66 »

Good evening, I understand the broad principle of Wind Run and I have Googled the subject. What I can't follow is the Wind Run number that appears on my Cumulus site. I have taken the average wind speed and multiplied it by the archive interval, my data log interval is 30 minutes or 0.5, but I can't produce a figure anywhere near the Wind Run indicated. Advice please. Regards, Terry

As the Cumulus Wiki implies, the data log interval is irrelevent if Cumulus has been operational throughout the period.
(If you had stopped Cumulus for most of the wind run period, then it would not have wind speed measurements each minute to use, and in that case, for some weather stations, the station's logging interval determines how many measurements Cumulus can average).
