Ex-hurricane Nadine offspring may hit UK on Sunday

Post by RayProudfoot »

Whilst there is a degree of uncertainty the UK Met Office are warning of the possibility that a new low pressure may be created within ex-hurricane Nadine currently to the west of the Canaries. It may then move rapidly north over the Iberian peninsula, western France before moving north over England on Sunday.

This new low pressure could contain a lot of warmth and moisture so if it does develop and move our way there could be high amounts of rainfall and possibly high winds.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

The Met Office have also raised a Yellow alert for rain on Sunday and Monday: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/

And the models are going crazy with Nadine itself, either its remnants go NW again, or they go back south, get tropical again, back to North and hit us. Unrealistic but really weird.

It really is the calm before the storm at the moment, or so it appears....very light wind, steadily falling temperature, steady falling temperature.

Looks like this part of the UK will get the highest winds....hope my new errection holds out

Once again it's the calm before the storm.

Yesterdays data:

High Wind Speed: 28.9mph at 18:09
Total Rain: 22.2mm
Highest Hourly rainfall: 6.6mm at 15:13
Highest Rain Rate: 39.6mm/hr at 21:26
Low Pressure: 988.8mb at 23:21
Low temperature: 10.5C at 15:28

Judging by the forecast and Met Office warning raised to Amber, I expect to see similar again today from about 4pm

Thoroughly miserable day here. Pressure is still dropping slowly and there's virtually no wind which suggests the low centre is nearby.

Still lots more rain to come over the next 24-36 hours. Wettest September day here since I started recording back in May 2009.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

This is from the Met, quite interesting.

Despite some reports to the contrary, this low is not what’s left of tropical storm Nadine, but is a completely separate entity – the remnants of Nadine are currently sitting close to the Azores far to the south of the UK.

If you check the thread title you'll see it's correctly named. Even last Thursday the Met Office were forecasting a new low would form from Nadine and head our way. Imagine was the mother is like if this is the daughter!
