Looks like very heavy rainfall over the UK today & Saturday

Post by Solorize »

Experts are warning of floods in many parts of the UK,
with a month's rain due to fall in 24 hours. Mainly in the east
and north-east of England

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18722054

Just wish this would be over the SouthEast as we still have
a hosepipe ban in effect ;)

I'm one of the 'lucky' stations that is in the firing line.

Perhaps we can use this thread to report rain amounts over the next 24 hours. It's just started raining now.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

Been following the latest weather over on netweather tv (GFS model charts). Looks like rain (very heavy in places) for most of the weekend.

Warwick, so far, has missed the worse of the conditions. PWS is showing 8.4mm (started raining at 4am). Rain now starting to pick up again.

Just checked Weather Underground and parts of Norfolk are showing 57mm so far today!

Five weeks until I fly off on holiday to the southern Mediterranean Sun. Can't wait!!

Not as bad as I thought it would be but with the inch of rain on Wednesday plus 0.84" today it's taken its toll on the garden.

Still, the lawn looks nice and green! :D Anyone know what plants will grow in a swamp?

I hear the Timpson's have opened a new place at Rhosneigr, may give that a try, or The Seacroft. Decisions, decisions! :?

We had 3" (75mm) of rain in East Devon :( We are lucky to live up in the hills so no problem with rivers. Unless you count the mini river running through our sheds! No actual damage fortunately unlike many people in this area.

Sorry, no banner - weather station out of action. Hoping to be up and running with a new home-made one soon.

50.8mm fell here yesterday. 114mm in the first 7 days of July .. outstanding!

I would like to thank the HIRLAM model for being correct. The NAE and GFS models were showing heavy rain across the midlands and the north, but they were not showing the cyclonic flow as the low pressure took on cyclogensis.
The HIRLAM model showed the rain wrapping back around and giving more to the south west that further north. Lot's of people dismissed this, and it proved to be right!

NAE 12Z Friday

HIRLAM 12Z Friday

HIRLAM 03Z Saturday

HIRLAM 06Z Saturday

http://postimage.org/image/osdt8nkvp/

Might not mean much to a few of you, but as the Met Office use the NAE model frequently, they couldn't nail down anything in the south west until practically the night before.
The HIRLAM had this covered way before then.
