Snow started about 4.30 around here, also had a very few flakes from about 11 am throughout the day.

Had about 2 minutes worth this afternoon, then a few medium size flakes late this afternoon, and finished the day with sunshine... but blooming cold!

One of my lads said they had quite a bit earlier in Kent....

Well this am opened the curtains to about 2" of snow; has been snowing on and off since.

The main roads are clear and side roads around us are passable with care and only one school closed.

Well although it snowed here Sunday and has been snowing this morning we have no lying snow at all here in Broadstairs, this is not unusual as we have sea on almost 3 sides of us and the sea temp is around 8°C currently. Right now its looking much more like sleet/rain than snow. Strangely enough in years gone by the most likely time for us to get snow lying here is when it comes from the west rather than the east.

On Monday we woke to the merest dusting of snow, and news coverage such as "the most widespread snow in 18 years" and "Britain comes to a standstill". It didn't really arrive here until Wednesday, which had a proper covering first thing in the morning and persistent snow throughout the day. In the evening I measured 6.25 inches, and it was still coming down. By this morning (Thursday) it was 16 inches.
