Cyclone Watch

Post by mcpaton »

Hi All

We have a Tropical Cyclone on the way where I am, expected to hit within 150km of where I live in around 20 hours time. You can check out my weather station page here for 15 minute observations.

Cheers

Forecast: Occasional precipitation, worsening

That sounds like it may be a bit of an understatement ............. good luck.

Any chance of some pictures during it?

Is this the right place? http://www.bushlandbeach.com.au/location/index.cfm

Not much wind so far, but some interesting rainfall - about 110mm in the last 24 hours, over half of that in the last 8 hours!

Yep that's the place. Didn't get much in the way of photos... got one at a broadcast site I look after which was inside the clouds, visibility was down to about 10m... We have had some huge rainfall, 211mm so far today, but not much wind, as the Cyclone ended up hitting 200km north of here, we just got the rain depression from the left overs.

Much flooding of local rivers etc, will try and get some pictures tomorrow.

When I saw your year-to-date rainfall I thought at first that you had had a 'bogus' rainfall event, but then I realised that it was probably correct! Amazing.
