Highest monthly rainfall (using this station hardware) 194.8mm for October. Autumn has so far dumped 361mm. More to come!

I may break my wind speed records tomorrow as I am under a yellow warning. The forecasts wind gusts are the highest since February 14th 2014.

This crazy winter season in NW Pennsylvania has added another couple of records at my station. I've been keeping data since Feb. of 2011 and today we set a daily and monthly high at 62.6°F for January. That could actually rise a bit thru the overnight ahead of a cold front due thru here just after midnight local time.

Record high pressure for this station since it started in April 2009. 1045.9hPa and still rising. Wow! The only record that doesn't cause any damage or discomfort. :D

The pressure seemed to peak at 1046.5 at 0121 2020-01-20. However, it only dropped 1.5 and is now going back up again. It may not be the end of the story.

A squall line associated with Storm Ciara passed through Cheadle Hulme just under an hour ago. A few houses have lost ridge tiles and trampolines are all over the place. My station recorded a new all-time gust of 65mph beating the previous record of 56mph back in 2014.

A memorable event!

I've not recorded winds like this over the last 12 years.
The peak gust so far is 66.8 mph at 11:39. The previous record was 53.5 mph on 3rd March 2019.
I wasn't even sure if those old type plastic anemometers were capable of holding together at that speed!

This is the Met Office rainfall radar at 11:25 this morning as the squall line passed through my area. Looks like we copped for the worst of it.

Ray

That same line passed me at 13:35, although it wasn't as wide by then. As it hit, the air temperature dropped from 15 to 7 degrees in less than 2 minutes! :o

The wind run record is likely to be exceeded well before midnight.

Logjam, it was quite an event. I’m just relieved the anemometer stayed intact. I lost one in 2013 with a gust of only 56mph. Temp dropped here from 12 to 8 in 20 mins.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.
