I would hope the Queen would be inside an air conditioned suite. They actually forbid pets out on the hiking trails around town when the temp is over 100F, but people are still allowed and are crazy enough to hike the mountains even at 120F. Firefighters still have to climb up and rescue the hikers too, and I am sure they are tempted to drop one every now and then. ;)

Probably not. She's pretty tough! There are always people who think they know better than the law. We have them here too.

That is a surprise - way cooler down the road here, the upward trend ended at 28.9 with a brief rain shower.

Yes, it surprised me but I checked and no one has a barbecue going. ;) just one or two drops here. The sun appeared around that time so was probably the reason.

Finished the heatwave with a very uncomfortable max temp today of 33.2c and max apparent of 36.4c

As I type this post its still 30c, both outside and inside, so another night in the sauna coming up. Thank fully temp trend is now downwards; getting a little old for the past few days temps.

Genuine All-Time Record this evening. Highest Dew Point. I had to add some extra code as I hadn't been showing this record.

i lived in Istanbul just over 10 years we get long hot spells however often influenced by high 20c + dewpoint so a hot 25c-30c can feel worse but

highest I have ever actual recorded temperature here was today 35.7c dewpoint a cool 15.4c and falling . however we are in risk of fire territory as it is very dry.. i live 150m from the sea so always somewhat cooler in terms of temperature..

wednesday we had 31c with a 23.4c dewpoint that was pure hell .

if i check across the water towards greece i see they are experiencing 40+ ..

A new All-time record for Wind Run yesterday after about 10 hours of moderate to strong west to southwesterly winds from about 7:30 AM easing in the evening. This is not seen often and also brought dangerous bushfire conditions with a Severe Fire Danger (and which did caused bushfires). A maximum wind gust of 66.1 km/hr was measured (10 min mean speed of 46.2 km/hr). The old record was 376.5 km on 27 January 2013 with the passage of Ex Tropical Cyclone Oswald. For September the old record was 171.2 km on 3/9/2017.

Code: Select all

Highest Daily Wind Run 385.2 km on 14 September 2017

Yes Matt, that's true.
I need to mow some of the paddocks but they are still too wet, we have Class H (8) high reactive clay base and get heaps of runoff from the Hills above us. After a good rain it can seep down for days even weeks. I don't go near the Paddocks in winter, they look ok from a distance but as soon as you step on them you have water running over your boots. We have spoon drains everywhere to protect the buildings (1 metre deep x 1 metre wide) one is 120 metres long.

When I used to display my data publicly I had comments from some people regards my Soil Moisture/Temp data being wrong (some stated it would be like flowing water to have Soil Moisture (Tension CB) readings that I have), well yes that is correct because it's running water.
Looks like we may still have some last minute white stuff on the higher peaks again soon by my onsite forecast.

I am on a residential block on clay with shale rock but basically on a side of a hill which can be a pain/impossible to dig when too wet or dry. In heavy rain water collects here but does slowly drain away but can remain boggy in places sometimes for a week after lots of rain. Thanks for explaining your situation, that quite incredible hearing from living up here to have that much water of that length of time. Up here winter is usually dry though rainfall was very good for the first half of winter which made the soil quite damp. Now the soil is rock hard and the grass is brown. Lying water after heavy rain bringing widespread flooding usually occurs over the summer months.

Looks like today the September high temperature record is going to be exceeded again having already reached 34.9 C at 12:28 PM. I don't remember breaking the same record three times in one week.
