I can guarentee that Greame or someone else in here will beat his max at some stage. Like Graeme, we had temps here last year well into the mid 40's. The northern suburbs of Adelaide reached 48c. (luckily its a bit cooler up here in the hills, so it hopefully won't be me that beats it ;) )

Sorry Phill, can't resist the challenge....

We had a minimum of 25.4C on 11 Jan 2010.

At least it's been cooler (and a bit damper) than last year. So far we haven't had half the state go up in smoke....
Cheers,
Graeme.

I don't see anyone trying to claim rain records here yet, so I may as well put mine, they will be easily beaten I'm sure :)
(I set my station up early December, and we've been much drier than usual ever since so these aren't exactly big records for me...)

1hour rainfall: 13.8mm
Highest rate: 174.6mm/hr

Here are my records since Jan 2, 2007. Living in Canada (Grafton, NB), I'm afraid I will have to claim some of the low temperature records. :(

I've wondered the same thing, actually - the number seems very high. That occurred during what I am told was one of the strongest thunderstorms seen in this area in recent memory. Unfortunately, I was out of town and missed it. :x Judging from the reports from family and neighbours, as well as the washouts in my driveway when I returned, I think it's possible that figure could be correct, although I have no way to know for certain. Prior to that storm, my record was 138.8 mm/hr, also recorded during a thunderstorm.

It seems quite reasonable to me, over a short period. I've had figures approaching that (but not at this location). The way the VP2 calculates rain rates can produce some very high figures for a brief period during a downpour. VP2 users are definitely at an advantage in the rain rate stakes, compared to those who have to use the less sophisticated Cumulus algorithm.

High pressure 1043.3 hPa at 10:44 on 26 January 2010 (cross check against Manchester Airport 5 miles away)

I've only been running Cumulus since 13 Jan 2010.

Living on an island in temperate latitudes isn't going to break any temperature records.

My highest pressure is very slightly higher than Mark's probably because my station is 4 miles north. 1043.35mb recorded at 10.45am on the same day. I also cross-check with Manchester Airport.

My high rain rate could be the highest so far. 9.76"/hour (247.9mm) last July ending a heatwave. There was a cloudburst but only for a few minutes which is why that day doesn't hold the highest hourly rain rate.

My station went operational on 10 May 2009.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

Hi to all

I have only been taking readings since 1st January this year

Temperature

Sorry but I can beat the High temperature with a max of 43.3c at 15:45 on 23rd January 2010
The previous day the reading was 46.0c, but I have a few doubts with that reading as other PWS nearby where all 4-5 degrees less.

Rainfall
So far this month we have totalled 159.5mm with more rain predicted so we should sail past the record from Cold1

Cold1
I am astounded by your Temperature ranges from a max of 32.2c to a min of -35c thats crazy
Cheers

Hi again

As a footnote to the above post

Here's a weather news item from Sydney about yesterday's rain
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010 ... 818601.htm

As other Australian members would testify, here in Aus. when it rains it RAINS, my monthly record for this month (160mm) is very little in comparison to some downpours here.

In Northern NSW and Queensland its nothing to have 100 to 120mm in 1 hour

Cheers again

Yes, the joys of living in Canada. :)

Those are the extremes recorded since I bought my VP2 three years ago. Since I began observing in 1978 (with glass thermometers in a Stevenson screen), I have recorded a high of 37.0° C in August 1995 and a low of -43.5° C in January 1994 - a range of 80.5°.
