UK & Ireland "Remnants of Hurricane Ophelia" Advisory / Warning

Post by CorkHarbourWx »

Morning. From http://www.met.ie:

Weather Advisory
Issued: Friday 13 October 2017 08:00
Valid: Monday 16 October 2017 06:00 to Tuesday 17 October 2017 06:00

"On Monday, an Atlantic storm from the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia will move northwards close to Ireland. There is still a high degree of uncertainty regarding the exact track and evolution of the storm. However, storm force winds, heavy rain and high seas are threatened. Met Eireann will continue to monitor this storm and will issue appropriate warnings as required."

...and from http://www.metoffice.gov.uk:

Yellow Weather Warning, Wind
Between 12:00 Mon 16th and 23:55 Mon 16th

"A spell of very windy weather is likely on Monday in association with ex-Ophelia. Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journeys times and cancellations possible. Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage. Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs could happen, perhaps leading to injuries and danger to life from flying debris. Coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities may be affected by spray and/or large waves. The warning has been updated to delay the onset time of the strong winds and increase the likelihood of the event occurring."
