Yes, it's all good. I'm getting good temp and humidity, and gave the rain gauge a tip or two to test. Solar is giving a reading of sorts. The anemometer is on a separate transmitter.

There's a vertical pole that was part of a radio mast - similar to the ones in the photo, but this is shorter - that I'm going to use to remount it when the wind dies down later. It's not really tall enough but it will do for now.

We recorded a peak gust of 78 mph with a slightly lower average of 51 mph here.

Remarkably, the ISS was undamaged and (on the table in the conservatory) is transmitting again. Quality kit!

(The photographer apologises for the photo quality, she was standing in a (literally) gale force wind at the time).
Bummer Steve.
That Stevenson screen looks like an oldie but a goodie.
I'd bet a Fine offset wouldn't have have faired so well.

The photo looks on par with my iphone pic quality (on a calm day) :)

Is that the sea in the top of the photo?

It was given to me a number of years ago by a member of this forum (Paul C). It would probably have lasted a lot longer if I hadn't neglected it, and given it a coat of paint more often. Hopefully I can still rescue it.

No, it's a field, the sea is in the opposite(ish) direction.

And the airport apparently recorded a gust of 86 mph. Quite a range.

Highest Wind Gust of 85mph here in North East Caithness. Pleased my new Vantage Vue survived the storm.

It did however go mad with the rainfall figures showing a rain rate of 1645.8mm per hour at the height of the wind.
I am guessing that the tipping bucket was opening/closing rapidly during the blow to get that crazy figure.

Now i need to go learn how to edit those log files to fix those monsoon readings.

Hi All,
Got a bit breezy here, Averaging in the 20's mph but with regular gusts to 60+, The peak gust was 67 mph. That's the fastest here since "bawgag" and "bampot" a couple of years ago.

Took a pic this morning of the marine electronic barometer. This is the rate change of pressure, so for a couple of hours it was really moving. Down then up at more than 4mb/h (can't measure any faster on this unit) and I've never seen the pressure rate alarm on the other weather station before! I think that goes off when the pressure is changing a greater than 5mb/h.

Hope the instruments in the screen are ok Steve. I put and extra couple of bricks on my base as I feared something similar happening.

cheers,
Bill.

Do you have a web page that we can view your data?

I've had this problem with my Vue as well...

Not as yet as only had Vue running 1 week.
Hopefully progress that soon.

The only instrument I have in there is a max mercury thermometer (also given to me by Mr C) - it survived. The other use I was putting the screen to was something solid to mount the ISS on.

Yes, I have a whole heap of rocks holding the base down. Unfortunately the wind ripped the screen off the base.

Hi,
Glad to hear it.

The splintered piece of wood that can be seen tells a sad tale....

Couple of bolts, lick of paint and it'll be like brand new!

Cheers,
Bill.

Hi folks,

Had a high gust of 35mph in my garden, which is quite shelterd, had been between 20 and 35 for a few hours. Previous max was only 23mph. Lost one tree, which I had to cut down today, other than that got of lightly. Most of the surrounding area was without power for several hours.

More bad weather forecast over the next few days!

Cheers

Just for comparison mine were 64 mph max gust, 41 mph max average.

I don't mind the wind so much but the amount of rain we've had lately is getting to be a problem. I had to fix a small problem with a shed roof and there's standing water everywhere - the ground is absolutely sodden. We could really do with a dry spell to firm things up again.

How much rain are you used to getting? What is your wet season?
