Another deep low for UK on Saturday
The UK is due to be hit by another very deep low on Saturday. Pressure forecast for my area is 964hPa at 15:00.
My existing record low pressure of 964.31 recorded on 23 December 2013 looks to be under threat. I imagine I'm not alone in the UK.

Re: Another deep low for UK on Saturday
My all time low was also on the 23rd at 966.2 so I could be up for a new record too, shame my site is still down due to line fault

Sorry to hear that Mark. Hope BT (or whoever) get you sorted soon.Tau Bootis wrote:My all time low was also on the 23rd at 966.2 so I could be up for a new record too, shame my site is still down due to line fault

My current Low is 957.6 on the 24th of Dec. However I think my sensor undereads. I've just added a plus 7 correction factor. Now edited out,

It does and by around 8hPa. Are you sure you have the altitude set correctly on your console? You can use the nearest Met Office station for adjustment but wait until tonight's storm has passed through.madpierre wrote:My current Low is 957.6 on the 24th of Dec. However I think my sensor undereads

Me too, BT failed to show yesterday now I have to wait until next Tuesday! To say I'm angry is an understatement.

Have you set the relative pressure on the console?madpierre wrote:My current Low is 957.6 on the 24th of Dec. However I think my sensor undereads. I've just added a plus 7 correction factor

Re: Another deep low for UK on Saturday
An updated forecast now predicts pressure at this station will drop to 961hPa 15:00 - 21:00 on Saturday. That would smash my all-time record by 3hPa.

Re: Another deep low for UK on Saturday
Ron,
The Express is notorious for its doomsday weather predictions. This is a very deep depression but another factor to consider are the tides. A week or so back a storm coincided with high tides and that was damaging. I don't think the tides tomorrow will be a factor.
The SW will bear the brunt of the storm but the centre of the low could cross the UK resulting in some new records for many.

They should take the Express out and shoot it, along with the Daily Mail.

Re: Another deep low for UK on Saturday
15:00GMT Saturday 8 Feb. Low, central pressure 948hPa centred over Northern Ireland.
By sheer coincidence this station recorded its highest pressure on 8 February 2012 of 1045.01hPa and could now record its lowest exactly 2 years later. Funny old world! You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
