Tuesday 7th July - Some exceptional rainfall rates

Post by RayProudfoot »

Hi all,

Although I've only been running Cumulus since early May my hourly rainfall record was well and truly smashed today.

It previously stood at 1.41" per hour at 17:22 on 15 May. This afternoon at 16:00 it touched 9.76" per hour / 247.9mm per hour!! during a cloudburst. Truly of monsoon proportions. It didn't last long though with the daily total at 0.93".

Can anyone beat that?
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

WOW :o

My highest has been 39.6mm/hour -- Interestingly a few days ago. I think July 2009 will go down in history as one with heavy downpours!

David,

Yours was the day before mine. Probably very similar weather conditions. You got off lightly! ;)
Cheers,
