Spider, you're lucky living in Portugal. The low won't cross the country but will get close to Steve in Orkney. By noon on the 24th it will start to fill but will still pack a big punch for Scotland especially.

If it does change direction or central pressure it could give Steve a new record.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

I don't think we will get the very low pressures here in the South West but the same low is forecast to give us 65-70 mph gusts tomorrow morning. Combined with a couple of heavy slow moving fronts over us at the same time is likely to make travelling very unpleasant. :!: My record of 40mph wind speed and/or 50.1 mph gust may be broken. I would be more confident of that if it was a westerly wind rather than southerly being on a westerly coast.

Well, I'm not in the UK, but I just thought I'd throw this out there.
A few days ago we had storm move in, and when I checked before I headed off to bed, the pressure was falling at a rate of 6.02 hPa/hr. I'm pretty sure it actually went higher than that looking at the slope of the graph the next morning, but I didn't get to see it myself.

Bear, I don't recall ever seeing such a massive pressure change. Did the centre of the low pass over your station?
Cheers,

Pressure is again "Falling very rapidly" here. Down 2.53hPa / hr. I'm sure there are lots of other stations around the country similarly affected.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

The fastest drop for me this morning was 2.9. It is not so steep now. Now gusting at 49mph which is just below my 50.1mph record. The wind direction is SW, which isn't the most exposed direction on this coast so I'm not sure it will get much higher.
