Low pressure record at 2336, of 965.0hPa. The drop to get there was a huge 43.6hPa from 1008.6 at 0016!

"So it is."
"And freezing."
"Is it?"
"Yes," said Eeyore. "However," he said, brightening up a little, "we haven't had an earthquake lately.”

High 996.7 - Low 954.5mb Range=42.2mb
Second lowest barometer recorded.

Gales didn't arrive - max gust 48 kts.

The Orkneys/Shetlands may have some interesting pressures tonight.

Low 932hPa centred NNW of Scotland will start to fill slowly by 0300 25 December. Steve's lowest is 947 this morning so it's quite likely it will fall lower today.

I see the difference in Steve's high/low pressure is just short of 100hPa. Wow! Mine is a puny 80hPa. I wonder if any station has exceeded 100.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

Regarding the pressure range. I recorded a high of 1012.1 at midnight. My lowest was 973.1 at 20:52. A drop of 39, exactly.

It's sometimes surprising how 'nice' 974.0hPa (my current reading) can be... even with the all-time low of 965 last night we had very little rain and surprisingly low wind speeds.

Actually as I said that, a cold front passed here and brought me three successive gusts above 100 km/hr without a hitch. I had to relocate the console by a few centimetres but it was an amazing performance. Max 105 km/hr.

The pressure bottomed out here just after midnight at 943.45 mb, a new record low. We didn't break any wind speed records, but the total wind run for the day to 0900 was 1043.7 miles, which beat the previous record by quite a bit.
