What are the odds on this?

Post by RayProudfoot »

Aa the thread title says... what are the odds on a station having the same maximum temperature for 3 consecutive days? Tuesday, yesterday and today have all had a maximum of 25.1C. Almost unheard of in the UK given the variability of our weather.

Is something 'stuck' on my VP2? Do I need to give it a tap? Anyone else had such a coincidence?
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

Do 3 doubles beat a treble Kevin? :D Not sure. Interesting stats though.

The odds have just gone astronomical. For the fourth day running the maximum for this station looks to be 25.1C.

Surely something can't be broken? It does feel that warm but a maximum to one tenth of a degree for four consecutive days? :o

LATER: A burst of heat has pushed the max to 25.3. Phew!
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

I do have to smile at you guys complaining about how hot it is. Where I am in Australia we occasionally reach 26 in the middle of winter & of course over 40 on some summer days.
The lowest temp I have had this winter is 4.8. Occasionally we get a frost.
But I suppose you adjust to the temp wherever you live & extremes are very noticeable.

You're right, it is all relative. No doubt if it dropped to -0.1C you would feel extremely cold but we would just wrap up and carry on. ;)

This is the warmest July for about 18 years in this part of the UK. This thread wasn't so much about the heat as identical max temps. I am enjoying the warm weather and hope it continues.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.
