All working again now. Cumulus set back to Passive, Filezilla works and my webcam is uploading pictures. There must have been some sort of problem on the BT server for a couple of days.
Thanks for your help.
Dave

Re: FTP problem uploading to website
Hi lost-again, I'm pleased that it is not just me but sorry you have the same problem. Are you also using btconnecthosting.com as your server? Does Filezilla hang for you when it's doing a LIST? Using the connection wizard in Filezilla suggests the server is closing the connection too soon. Nothing ...

Re: FTP problem uploading to website
Steve's suggestion of the above server works fine with Filezilla so it looks like it is the BT server refusing to list the directory. I can however, get the Cumulus directory listing using the FTP program built in to Win8 and copy a file up to the cumulus directory on the server. Weird. I'll see wha...

Re: FTP problem uploading to website
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the prompt response. I'll try active FTP mode once I've read about it!
Can you recommend a server I can ftp into to see if it is my router firewall?
Thanks
Dave

FTP problem uploading to website
My website stopped updating between 08:40 and 08:50 this morning. When I got to my PC it appeared the router had just re-booted itself. It does this occasionally especially in windy weather. I re-started Internet Explorer and waited until the next scheduled upload at 08:50. The website did not updat...

Re: WMR928 won't connect on new Windows 8 PC
Hi Silverado, I too have the WMR928 and recently upgraded my laptop to one without a serial port and running Win8. There are a few old posts about the chipset used in the USB to Serial converters on this site. Do a search for FTDI. It would appear that not all converters are made equal. I managed to...

Re: Windows 8
I treated myself to a new laptop at Xmas and of course it came with Win8 and IE10. I spent a couple of days making it look as much like Win7 as I could as I didn't like the "Metro" interface. So far, so good. Cumulus has worked faultlessly  and I've just updated to Cumulus 1.9.3. bui...

Re: Web design software recommendation
Many thanks for all your suggestions. I've already got Notepad++ for messing with my weather site. I'll take a look at the other suggestions and let you know how I get on. Graham64 - thanks for your offer of help! As you say, winter time is ideal for developing these skills as the bees are all tucke...

Re: Web design software recommendation
David, Ray & BCJ,
OK, during the wet & windy nights over the winter I'll see if I can get my HTML spurs. I will, of course, be asking lots of questions
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Web design software recommendation
Hi Dave Unfortunately I have no experience of these ready made web sites either free or paid for, so I can’t really help on that front sorry. Maybe someone else has some pointers for the kind of package you are looking for. Regards Hi Mark, I assumed that the site you pointed me to was yours. That ...

Re: Web design software recommendation
Hi Dave Have you looked at Webs.com, its free. Here's an example of what can be done http://www.rarebreedpoultry.webs.com/ Hi Mark, I've had a few days messing around with the free version of Webs.com. I think I need to move up to one of the paid for versions. Do you know which version, if any, wil...

Re: Steel Series, IE9, Tracking protection
Thanks Mark, It only fails the first time you visit a site. If you turn off tracking protection for that particular site, you can visit many times without the problem. I guess IE is making a list somewhere of the sites you have visited and turned off the tracking protection. I don't remember if your...

Re: Steel Series, IE9, Tracking protection
Hi Steve, Hope you are better. OK, I have both "Tracking Protection" (Tools/Safety/Tracking Protection) and "Never allow ......" turned on. The Tracking Protection is the one that is preventing the gauges from showing. I can't remember turning it on. As I mentioned in my first po...

Re: Steel Series, IE9, Tracking protection
Hi Mark, It happens to all pages which have the Steel Series gauges the first time I visit. Thereafter the gauges show every time I re-visit. Try mine http://home.btconnect.com/CholseyWeather/cumulus/gauges-ss.htm This "feature" also happens whenever I go to a page that has any sort of map...
