Re: Readings gone crazy - how do I correct them
You say 'no maintenance' - the combination of the 'old' batteries and the cold temps may be enough to reduce the range of the transmitter. I know with the LaCrosse 2300, if working cabled, the feed voltage is higher than the batteries, although there will be some loss through the cable. Has anyone b...

Re: no wind or stuck instrument
If it got a bit wet yesterday, it may have got frozen up with this mornings sub-zero temperatures, although I would have expected those 12 mph gusts to keep it clear.
Keep an eye on it.

Re: bug report !
You should get meteoclub.gr to look at the later templates, esp the Gauges and the modified 'trends' page which allows for graph 'overlays' in your own language. The template(s) you are using has the following declaration: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=is...

Re: mast / pole for wind gauge / direction
The beteljuice has a 30 ft aluminium mast (6 x 5 ft plug together sections) with two sets of nylon guys (but no sheep). If you decide to go the (better) way of a metal mast, a few pointers: Earth it If you can extend your anemometer cable, slip it INSIDE the mast ;) .. Did I mention ... EARTH IT !

Re: Rain Guage placement
It has been noticed by myself and at least one other that reed switch rain guages are very prone to 'static' - proven by being too close (4m / 12ft) to a low power electric cattle fence. I suspect induced emf in the gold contacts is enough to affect the normal magnetic bias. No amount of sheilding /...

Re: Cumuluswebtags.php query please
I'm not 'seeing' any 'content' on either site ? Jenny, quite often your file doesn't exist, will your web server allow "Use FTP rename" ? - looks like you have a (very) short reload interval and a 'gap' while it's been replaced. Same for your realtime.txt Ray (on the assumption that's what...

Re: Cumulus setup option
Sort of a nice idea, but ....... Whilst you will preseverse you personal templates, you also don't discover any (perhaps) better style / layout that may have been introduced (albiet rarely) I'm not sure what a happy comprise might be, I still think the philosphy of keeping a COPY of your own templat...

... Oh, that is BAD! You should see nothing if you view the page...example http://www.grantownweather.co.uk/data/cumulustags.php I think Jenny may be getting confused, and expects to see a visual o/p from the page ? By removing the leading < the page is NOT being processed by php and is being treat...

Re: uploading weather data to dabase server
You don't actually say if you are using Cumulus to ftp the file - and if you are, have you ever successfully uploaded other files with Cumulus ? (eg. realtime.txt, web pages)

Re: Firewall Preventing Webpage Uploads
It seems to be a known problem for some Vista / CA Firewall combos ....
Concensus of opinion is to change your firewall !
.... but - It doesn't always go without a fight, get a decent uninstaller.

Re: Radiation Shield accuracy
There may be a rain 'shadow' problem with wind driven rain from the South, but I suspect that would be a minority event, even then aerodynamics suggest that rain would actually be pulled 'down' over the top of the fence. I think that is going to be your best comprimise location, and ... won't spoil ...

Re: Radiation Shield accuracy
The all important compass bearing ! How about in the soil, house side of the bench ? Immediate surrounding are predominately shade, the fence will be 'hot' on the other side, and any 'left over' fence effect will be masked by the conifer and shrub. In open air the radiation from the house wall and t...

And there is always the possibility that you only need a 'header' because there is one and it hasn't been cabled out... adding a serial port to a computer is generally a simple matter of adding a $25 card to an open slot ...
