Re: 2nd Anemometer Failing
What I don’t understand is why potentiometers are still being used when a Hall Effect sensor must be a viable option. I suspect that there are multiple reasons why the 6410 anemometer still uses a pot, like: It's relatively rare for the direction reading to become faulty, certainly as a result of a...

Re: 2nd Anemometer Failing
The OEM for the Davis ultrasonic anemometer is a French company called LCJ Capteurs. We were selling the LCJ version for a few years before Davis launched their modified version of the LCJ anemometer. But TBH because of the cost (and it used to be even more expensive before the Davis modified versio...

Re: 2nd Anemometer Failing
@Super-T That's an interesting idea and I can certainly see how it could apply to domestic appliances where the conditions of use are controllable. But for weather station sensors it would be much more tricky given how variable siting and climate would be. I suspect that the manufacturer would end u...

Re: 2nd Anemometer Failing
How on earth can there be this type of confusion? Well, I could say several things to that, but let me keep it short: 1. Ever wondered why dealers don't engage more often with this sort of forum? Maybe I am stupid to even try and help by trying to explain things from a dealer's perspective. 2. I ha...

Re: 2nd Anemometer Failing
Well, I sent an email ro prodata asking if there was a refurbishment option, and I was told no. However, Davis responded, and said they do an option where they send a refurbished anemometer, and I send my old one back to them. I asked if this was possible for UK customers, and I was told YES - cont...

Re: Weather Stations
It's actually quite difficult to get really high speed readings just from a finger flick on the cups. I think the fastest I can do on a Davis anemometer is somewhere in the 15-20mph range. It's plenty enough to check that it's working but not remotely into hurricane/tornado speeds. MAybe others have...

Couple of feature questions
Anyone able to help please with a couple of CMX feature questions. Sorry, I'm sure the answers are on the forum or wiki already, but short of time tonight: 1. Trying to help someone who wants both current wx readings AND a trend graph for wind speed and direction on a single web page (ie without goi...

Re: Upgrading VP2 Firmware
so it could be a case of if its not broke, don't fix it. If you are happy with the status quo then always best to leave it as is. Don't be tempted by very minor feature changes. F/W upgrades usually do work OK, but if something serious goes wrong with the update attempt then resurrecting the consol...

Re: Weatherlink.com Upload to WOW
OK, an update as promised: Uploads from weatherlink.com to WOW seem to be working (for me at least) over several days, apparently without missing any data. However, there is seemingly an issue with (probably spurious) error messages being generated by the WOW server, which are still being investigat...

Re: Weatherlink.com Upload to WOW
Please be aware that WOW uploads direct from wl.com are very much still in beta and quite possibly not working as yet, which is why they've not been publicised yet. I'll aim to do some testing in the next day or two and report back. It is a feature that we've been asking for and trying to facilitate...

Re: WLL Questions
No problem, but please be patient! Davis engineers/developers (as opposed to support) are now aware of the issue and can reproduce it, which are both key steps in getting a resolution. But this won't automatically mean that a quick fix is possible. Hopefully a speedy resolution is possible of course...

Re: Vantage Vue Comms problems
@ptb: You don't appear to have read my post. Please look at the first sentence and try using the CP210X USB to Serial Converter menu option on the Windows Start button to switch back to Serial mode. Maybe you have done this but you're not explicitly saying so. Just clicking the Serial option inside ...

Re: Vantage Vue Comms problems
It's not clear to me that the OP has tried using the CP210X USB to Serial Converter menu option on the Windows Start button to switch back to Serial mode. You can't switch back to serial mode from inside the WL program. Maybe the OP could confirm whether they've actually tried this? I must say that ...

Re: WLL Questions
If you care to eg PM me your wl.com user name and pw then I'll take a look. Appreciate you may prefer not to do so, but it's tricky to troubleshoot accounts without being able to look inside.

Re: WLL Questions
Upon further investigation, my WLL has had it's firmware. Still no health data showing on the bulletin page, though. I'm guessing that's just akin to a typo, but the health data is of course not on the Bulletin page but on the 'Health Data' tab/menu option on the Device tab of the Configuration pag...
