Re: Cumulus 1.8.6 install question
Backup your Cumulus\web folder weatherstyle.css and cumulus.ini *BEFORE* you do the upgrade. Let the upgrade overwrite your templates. Push the new webfiles up to your server. Take a look at the new web-pages to assess the changes. Take a copy of the new html files if you want to refer back to them....

Re: Anomalous moon.bmp size conundrum
Yayhay! I got a workround. I increased the Maximum Color Depth of TS to 'Client Compatible' - this works out to 24bit with XP client 2k3 server - and I get a usable moon.bmp to look at with Symbian. Yipee!
It's just a pity it's a New Moon right now. Doh!

Re: Having problems with t35.com Free Host site
Hmm, that does sound pretty restrictive. Even if the only file uploaded is the realtime data you will probably 'burst' that. My xml realtime file that contains ALL of the data from the webtags is currently 42KB. It is possible to design web pages that remain static and require only this file to regu...

Re: Pressure different on web page to display
I run Cumulus on Server 2003 (Standard 32bit) and use RDC to manage it. Currently I have Cumulus in the Startup folder so when I restart the box I need to logon to it to get it to run (I'm thinking of tinkering with running it as a service but haven't got round to it yet). I use the 'stop 2nd instan...

Re: USB connection dropping
I have a similar setup (the only major difference is the OS - I use Server 2003) I too had the same problem at first. It went away after I spent silly money on a quality USB cable from PC World. The important word in the above sentence is 'quality' - you don't HAVE to spend silly money at PC World t...

Re: Anomalous moon.bmp size conundrum
Steve, you are probably a genius :!: for incisively hitting the nail square on the head (if I may mix metaphors). I knew it had something to do with bitdepth but I didn't have clue how or why. I normally run the server console in Terminal Services mode; although the native screen is configured to us...

Anomalous moon.bmp size conundrum
Having absolutely nothing better to do I got to wondering about my 'broken image' of moon.bmp when using a Symbian phone (see https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=6912#p6912 ). I noticed that could see the moon.bmp when I browsed PaulC's Brampton Weather site but not when I browsed mine. I ...

Re: XHTML 1.1 compliant Ajax framework for Cumulus
Found a typo in the XML template that was causing Yesterday's Rainfall to be incorrectly displayed. It's been so long since it last rained I only just noticed the problem! The attached template fixes the problem. [Edit] - Attachment moved to first post in thread, for neetniss. (had been downloaded 6...

Re: Cloud Base
I've been a bit curious about this myself. How is it 'guestimated'? There is a prominent hill at my location with an altitude of around 500 metres that has been used for weather predictions for centuries. (When you can see the top of the hill; it is going to rain and when you can't; it is raining). ...

You are NOT alone! I installed Silverlight to look at Steve's (admittedly very pretty) gauges, and then uninstalled it again.beteljuice wrote:It would seem I'm the only one who refuses to download M$ 'Silverlight'

XHTML 1.1 compliant Ajax framework for Cumulus
This is yet another Ajax XML HTML webserver frameset that displays dynamic realtime data on your webpages. What's different about this one? You can develop strict XHTML 1.1 pages that get a W3C green tick and allow you to attach one of these to your webpage: http://www.w3.org/Icons/valid-xhtml11 <a ...

Re: Webtag definition
This is a rough and ready demonstration of how to use the webtag XML data file and JavaScript to make client-side dynamically updating pages for your Weather website. You need to be slightly :geek: to do this - I assume you know what you are doing! See the included readme.txt for installation  ...

Re: Webtag definition
I'm going to have fun with RC ones! Here's my modified XML template. See https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=737 for instructions on how to use it. I'm working on a JavaScript package to go with this that enables client-side dynamic update of weather data, but it's still in infanc...
