Hi Ray, that provider looks pretty good compared to what I've seen so far. Did you go for the starter at £24?

Re: Suggested web site hosting offerings
Well, we're going to have to bite the bullet now Steve has made his decision to shut down. Is the basic A2 offering sufficient, and when it says "used to cost" does it mean it's an introductory price that will go up after a year. I don't want to be changing people's servers on a yearly bas...

Re: 2018 - An exceptional (ongoing) summer for the UK
For the S.E and specifically Essex, in many ways it has been a better summer than 1976, lasting longer. I moved into this house in 1976 and have good memories of the near constant sun and heat. But it broke down badly at the end of August beginning of September (when I went on holiday!) and we had a...

Good luck with the Japanese restaurant!
Ray, it's only the 17th today so you would never see the dayfile.txt file for the 17th till after midnight.

Re: Site going down.
Ray, it's not really much different setting up with a different provider than it was with Steve. It's just Steve had a nice fair and straightforward pricing policy. A lot of them are £x a month then it goes up the next year. As for the website - yes it will just pick up with the current data availab...

Re: Site going down.
I posted earlier but hadn't seen about later in the week so I will wait till then. I have two people now whose Cumulus has stopped uploading since 15.15 and 15.20 on October 15th.
I need to know fairly soon what the longer term prospects are so as I can advise them what to do re: their websites.

Re: Site going down.
I appeared to be down briefly this morning. I tried three sites on it and none functioned but back up now as at 12.30pm BST.

Re: Site going down.
This may not be relevant but my brother runs a similar hosting service to Steve which I use. He has contacted me in the past and said that Cumulus uses a very large amount of bandwidth, especially caused by frequency of uploading, especially the graph files apparently. To alleviate this I cut down m...

I've also sent a message via that form url. I'd urge as many as possible to do the same whether you are hosted by Steve or not.

Re: FTP upload error
@water01. I am the friend who initially set this site up successfully for Scott and a number of other users. It was a few years back.It is hard for some to understand just how difficult and complex this is for non computer types (they do exist!), mainly because they don't understand the jargon that ...

Re: Maplin in administration - where to buy spare parts now?
Mine still going strong after 10 years! Love the "Trigger's broom" comment. A few spare components from time to time all at ridiculously low prices. I doubt it's cost me more than £15 per year and with a special screen and the ability to calibrate in Cumulus I reckon it beats Davies machin...

Re: Help!
Hi Steve, thanks for the quick reply. I do a reasonable amount of backups but must admit that file isn't one that I have been that precious about and I guess it's not that essential to. I have one from last year and I think most of the settings will be the same. Are there likely to be any snags if I...

Help!
Not had this happen to me in 9 years! Cumulus crashed and when re-started and has come up with a brand new default configuration settings file, wiping out all the previous internet settings and everything else. I have all the data files and web files but is the previous version of the config setting...
